Carnival of Space #578
Hi everybody, it’s my turn to host the Carnival of Space again! Every week, a new publisher pitches the tents of the travelling Carnival of Space to host it for the week on their website. Every week the best and most interesting space science and astronomy writing fills those tents to bring you up to date on news around the Universe. If you write about space and stuff, and would like to join the carnival, why not drop us a mail and show us what you’ve got? We’re always looking for new performers!
But before we start, a quick note from our sponsor me about ScopeX. ScopeX is the largest and most important astronomy event in Africa, and I’d really like to see you all there! It’s happening on 15 September, from 9am to 9pm, and is held at the usual venue – the Museum of Military History in Saxonwold, Johannesburg. It features amateur-built telescopes, a series of talks and lectures, the airing of a special video edition of the Urban Astronomer Podcast and various science displays, including robotics, rocketry, and more. Don’t miss the astrophotography competition, judged by the Astronomical Society of South Africa’s Astrophotography and Imaging section’s new director, Martin Heigan. And the whole thing ends with a Star Party where you can look through the many commercial and home-built telescopes that regular visitors will have set up on the lawn. I’ll be there the entire day, so if you do come around, please look for me and say hi!
End of announcement. Here’s the Carnival!
