You’ll remember two episodes ago, we were supposed to interview Dr Rosalind Skelton of the South African Astronomical Observatory. Unfortunately, I messed up somewhere and the recordings we’d made well in advance of the show were lost. … Continue reading →

Dr Wendy Williams

This is Episode 1 of our brand new second season! This is the 43rd episode since the podcast was first launched, back in February 2017, and I’m thrilled to be back on the air with you. Constantly Learning

I have just completed processing my third image of the famous southern radio galaxy Centaurus A.  Each time I go back to this object, I get better results, even though I’m using the exact same equipment each time.  It just goes to prove that it’s not the equipment that makes the shot, but the photographer.  Just to labour the point, here are all three of my images (so far) of Centaurus A, along with notes of how I captured each … Continue reading →

Are we really headed for a collision with Andromeda?

Urban Astronomer avatarPosted on 27 Mar, 2015 by Allen Versfeld8 Jul, 2016

They make it sound like its going to happen in the next few decades. I was just curious how much bigger is andromeda? How close is it to us? And how close are we to impact. Thanks in advance, Drew Dear Drew First thing first, we are indeed on a collision course with the Andromeda … Continue reading →
